The Georgia Teachers Organization
The Georgia Teachers Organization, mostly known as GTO, is one of the outstanding organizations
that focuses on making a better environment and benefits for the educators in the state of Georgia. The
goal of this organization is to bring together all Georgia educators into a sole state organization which can talk out in behalf of the benefits that
they should receive. Among the matters that they talk out, high salaries is one of the primary
concerns. In addition to that, abolishment of the state salary step structure by which the veteran teachers are discriminated is one of other
primary concerns where they also stress on better retirement gains. Through The Georgia Teachers
Organization, they could effectively communicate with the members and coordinate actions on critical issues that concern Georgia educators.
Volunteering
The Georgia Teachers Organization runs under the minimal resources and they do not even have a proper office space to carry out their
operations. It is run by a group of volunteer members of the organization that work in order to achieve better
gains for all teachers, faculty and staff members in the state of Georgia. One of the goals that GTO hopes to achieve is that to educate all
Georgia educators about the vital matters that concern their profession and seek the necessary action when it is needed. Using an email communication network, the organization will expand and notify their member of all the
relevant issues. The organization urges every Georgia educator to join the organization by paying a $25 annual membership fee to beef up their efforts.
Motivating the Educators
The GTO promotes any legislation that would step-up the educator gains and morale. According to the organization every state that borders Georgia has full retirement benefits for educators after 25 years of service without an
early retirement penalty but Georgia does not offer this gain. Other than for the core gains of the educators, The Georgia Teachers Organization
also works on many additional fields for enhancing and improving the benefits of the educators in the
state of Georgia.
The Georgia Teachers Organization promotes the authority to
step-up the retirements gains 3% per every service year. After 25 years of service, an educator will get 75% (25 x 3%) of a retirement salary contrast to
the current 60%. Furthermore, GTO maintains that since there are Georgia State employees who receive 90% of their salary at retirement, the educators should also
provided the same benefit.
Constructing Opportunities
There are many rewards of joining The Georgia Teachers Organization as the organization always keeps the members in the loop
regarding the latest developments in the front and information resources. The names, addresses, telephone numbers and email addresses of those who should be
reached to help pass significant legislation would be given to the members. In addition to that, the educators attached to The Georgia Teachers Organization will get chances to move with the rest of the educators from other states and learn how they accomplished their rights.
